Let’s take a quick look at Ancestry’s card catalog. Because Ancestry has so many functions (from making trees, to giving hints, to showing DNA results) it’s sometimes hard to remember it’s a database filled with historical record sets from partnering institutions.
Friend, it’s a library.
Occasionally, we can be overwhelmed by results when wielding the universal search. This is when we want to remember our library skills. Ancestry has a great card catalog. We can search for specific record sets. And even better - we can then open a record set and search specifically within that record set. In this way, we can go from thousands of results spanning many regions, to a handful of results focused on one specific place.
